Hi, I have my pre admission assessment in the morning and my surgery booked for the 1st June.
I'm worried my surgery will be cancelled due to my current state of health. I'm so breathless and to top it off I've caught the worse cold and sore throat. Got some antibiotics yesterday though. I'm so overweight, got asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure and can't stand for long or walk far. I know the breathing is down to iron deficiency anemia and the cancer but I just seem to have got worse the last three weeks. Now with the cold on top ! I can't eat properly and have lost weight which I'm not complaining about as I have a lot to lose.
Has anyone else being in poor fitness but still gone ahead with surgery? I really don't want it cancelled.
Hi
So easy to worry but to be honest quite a lot of people heading for surgery for a variety of reasons would possibly have a similar medical history . They are highly skilled in weighing up the risk / benefits analysis and would call in other specialist like cardiologists to assess the patient and give guidance if required .
The same anaesthetist work on a variety of other theatre lists and know when to act and when to proceed .
Have a chat with the assessment team and I am sure they will alleviate your concerns .
Hope your getting some sunshine today . Beautiful here !
Take care ,

I had 1 round of chemo and was so ill they delayed my second round by two weeks, however in those 2 weeks I continued to be ill severe sickness and diahorrea, a reaction to potassium tablets, a chest infection followed by a water infection and the day I was due to start my second round I had emergency surgery a right hemicolectomy as my tumour caused a blockage in my bowel!! Anyway I’m nearly 5 weeks post surgery now and due to start my second round on Friday. I’m sure you will be well looked after and they will make sure you are well enough for surgery! Good luck x
Hope it all goes well with your next round what a time of it !
mall the best for your appointment. Hope it goes well .
