  • Found this on a Long Covid site. Have always thought there are incredible parallels between this and cancer, maybe the world  will come to appreciate what we go through.

Stay safe all, you don't want covid believe me!

I absolutely LOVE this ! I’m sitting here in my hospital room on day 4 since my anterior resection. It went really well, except the surgeon had to switch to open surgery at the last moment because my previous abdominal scarring from 3 emergency caesareans was obstructing the site for extracting the portion of my colon containing the tumour. However, the upside of that is that the surgeon was able to reattach my colon more securely so - no stoma! The scarring isn’t pretty so my bikini days are over (have been for years, actually), so now researching pretty one pieces ready for my next holiday! Smiley

  • That’s so accurate .

Glad to hear everything sounds to have gone well . I was due to have keyhole but then the surgeon asked if he could do open to make sure he got everything away. I told him he’s the boss and to do what he needed to. I think the recovery time pretty much evens up with keyhole after a couple of weeks and at least your tummy isn’t full of air! My possibility of appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated are definately behind me now but I can blame my wobbly tummy on surgery now and not cake and chocolate!

Hope you get back home to your own bed soon

    Take care

unfortunately I had both keyhole and then open for the last bit of surgery, as my surgeon couldn’t complete with keyhole, it’s just an extension of my caesarean scar though, really and at least I knew what to expect with an abdominal incision. The pain control they used was amazing, though! I was up and moving on day 2! AND....I’m being discharged today...day 4! Amazing! I don’t think it would have been any different if it had just been keyhole. Also, I’m on the SafeFit trial with Southampton University, which means I’ll have a remote personal consultant to advise me on exercise and diet for enhanced recovery. I honestly can’t believe my good fortune in how all this has gone and I feel full of optimism!

I missed that when I looked it was bright even early on. I am trying to control my weight loss as I am down to 13st 11lbs and I know my ideal weight is around 12st but I would like to know what is causing it. Not that under normal circumstances would I complain   By the way my name is Paul. How are you doing are you getting out and about? How’s your Mum?

You got me Paul and I stared and stared at it too! I even asked my husband and he immediately burst out laughing and it clicked !

Mum is doing a little better and was able to potter around her garden yesterday as I cut the grass so can’t complain !

New meds have been a bit problematic but she is pressing on .

We had a beautiful few days but it’s raining and cold today but still managed a walk !

Are you able to do a bit of walking yourself ?
