Hello I have just been through rounds of Avastin and Capecitabeine for my tumours, several in my lung have shrunk a little but one in my liver has grown to 13mm from 11mm.

My oncologist wants me to move to secondline therapy of Irenocantan.

Would love to hear how others have gone with this?

My gene is Kras G12V so the new immunotherapy for 12C and soon 12D is not available to me.

Have been told my prognosis (having had a huge Krukenberg Tumour in 2019 and Hipec surgery for peritoneal C) is bleak and difference in life expectancy is only a matter of months between taking/not taking further chemo.

Appreciate any experiences and other treatments?

I look and feel good, everytime I visit the Cancer centre I am presumed to be a visitor not a patient.

Thanks

Julia

  • Morning

I had been thinking about you the other week and wonders how you were getting on . We chatted a while back !

I have enclosed bowel cancer U.K. as it’s been updated recently and covers other options on managing a spread . I also wondered if you have thought about posting on the Bowel cancer U.K. forum too . The only reason I mention it they have a few long term contributors  who have been managing a stage 4 diagnosis for years . I am pretty sure they have used irinotecan as a part of their treatment program and might be able to tell you about efficiency  . If I remember right some have used various agents to keep their tumour burden under control and I think you might find their experience very helpful as you determine the correct path for you .

A lot of people post on both platforms and we are all looking out for the best advice and experience for each other . Currently a few people are using it here so could share experiences and I could tag them in if any help to you but might be too early to address the efficiency aspects .

That’s the link to the stage 4 forum on bowel cancer U.K. if your interested. We certainly drew a lot of information from reading how other people managed their condition and how best to navigate it . You will find they too had pretty disheartening prognosis as did my mum. But sometimes the right window of opportunity appears and pushes that further down the road as was my mum’s experience.

Interestingly enough I have noticed Christie’s is doing a trial for Immunotherapy on MSS patients as opposed to MSI patients . I had read some reports of people in a America getting it with MSS but Grinningth a large tumour mutation burden and getting some positive results . I think they must be putting it into a clinical trial here . Don’t know anything more than what I have read on Cancer research UGrinning. but thought it was interesting. Your oncologist would know more than me on that one !Grinning

Not sure why several emojis pop up when you were only ever looking for one !

You sound as you are handling treatment very well and in good shape physically.

    Take care ,
