Hi my husband finished he's last round of chemo last week he is having CT scan next week to check if the chemo as shrunk the tumor enough to operate. Things have been pretty plain sailing for him hes handled he's chemo very well apart from side effects like tired and nausea all he's pain and constipation went but past few days he has been very constipated more lethargic than usual and then today he got a bout of diarrhoea after taking laxidos for the constipation and he had a significant amount of blood in the toilet after the bowel movement this has never happened to him before so it came as quite a shock my husband is currently in a&e having bloods done and waiting for an xray so worried when everything seemed to be going well
Hi Hayleyc89
He has done incredibly well with chemo . They will check him out thoroughly and hopefully give some reassurance. My mum finished chemo with an emergency trip to hospital too . It’s tough treatment on the colon when the tumour is still in place so I would not assume the worst . He has done well and things do get irritated with chemo .
Hopefully you will hear soon and put your mind at rest but I remember the anxiety well . It really goes for you . However they were able to tell us that night how well chemo had actually gone . Only problem my mum missed it all as she dehydrated to the point of confusion and missed the good news !! Never straight forward with chemo !!!
take care ,

Thank you court. They have kept him in as he's bloods show sign of infection he said they haven't said if they can tell if chemo as worked yet but he's not like me he won't ask any questions he's had an xray done so I was hoping maybe they could tell from that but on he's 1st trip to a&e before he was diagnosed they couldn't even see the tumor on xray out was only picked up by CT scan and colonoscopy. X
We are unsure if he is coming home now the doctors are going to decide at the MDT meeting if he can or not last night they were saying it seemed like an infection then they were doing to do a ct scan or a colonoscopy but then deciding not to do any of this and discuss him. I find it all confusing as surely if it was an infection wouldn't it be as simple as giving him antibiotics which they did last night through a drip then letting him home?
