  • Hello Barry (

I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself having a different cancer, however by me replying it will be "Bumped Up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the Bowel group.

Out of curiosity I did look on Cancer research UK and there are 260+ open trials but many are not suitable - all I would suggest is you keep looking.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi

My name is Steph, I'm part of the team who look after the Online Community here at Macmillan.

I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with bowel cancer, have been through a lot of treatment over the last three years and are now looking for a clinical trial.

I just wanted to offer up this information from Macmillan about clinical trials.

It sounds like you have already spoken to your healthcare team and charities including Cancer Research search for clinical trials on their website here. There are other options suggested on the Macmillan pages.

You could also reach out to our Support Line nurses, to talk things through and ask if they have any further suggestions for you. Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat.

I hope this is helpful but please do get in touch if you need any further support.

  • Here’s a link I found to current colorectal cancer trials which I think you may have already seen. I can’t find any stage 4 trials.

Have you had a second opinion on continuation of treatment? There may be a specialist oncologist at another hospital who will have a different opinion?

    All the best x
