Hi worried my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in January 2023 after a hemicolectomy was given the all clear. In February 2024 was diagnosed stage 4 with liver and lung mets. So far Folfiri, folfox, Lonsurf with bevacizumab have failed and he is about to start Mitomycin with Capexitabine next week after the latest scan showed the tumors in both lung and liver have doubled in size. Surgery and immunotherapy are not an option. So concerned about if there are many more treatments available and how much time we have left. Any experience with Mitomycin and Capeitabine?
Hello AmbitiousAngel303299bb
I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and replied to by other members of the Bowel cancer group.
Best wishes - Brian.

What a difficult time you have both had .
Sometimes oncologists can revisit previous treatment combinations.
There are also clinical trials to consider.
You might find it helpful to link in with the stage 4 group over on bowel cancer U.K. .
They share a lot of information and sometimes it’s even good to know what other angles other clinicians look at .
Volume of tumours matter too . I take it radio frequency ablation is not an option?
Here to chat . It’s not easy at times . My mum was a stage 4 patient for 15 years. Sometimes the disease was fast growing and sometimes it seemed to stop and stay at a certain size for. While before jumping again , particularly with the lungs !
Take care ,

Thank you Court. No ablation is not possible, they also said there are no trials for him either. He has several tumors on his lungs and Liver. They did say they maybe able to revisit past treatment. The 1st did work for a while but since then nothing seems to have touched them.
We are considering another 2nd opinion which we did get in the first instance. Just worried me as the 2nd opinion stated worst case scenario with go down 1,2,3 lines and we are possibly looking at 2 years. We are now 18 months from that and I can't get 2 years out of my head.
So sorry about you mum but does give me hope that 15 years you had up and down results. I suppose anything is possible we are just trying to stay positive.
Thank you for replying
