Hi all, just reaching out for support as this forum got me through the initial diagnosis.
I am feeling completely overwhelmed at the moment. My CT showed 3 lesions on my lungs which was a blow after my initial histology of stage 1. The original resection has had complications that means I am now due to have a stoma next week. Then after seeing oncology this week, they want to CT me again before deciding if it's chemo prior to ablation. The original plan was abaltion first...my plan keeps changing and my head is swimming.
I am so very scared of chemo, weirdly properly more so than the operations. They have mentioned 6 months of capox...it all just seems overwhelming at the moment
HiCaz76 and sending you a big hug. That’s a big jump from stage 1 to lung mets so I’m not surprised that your head is spinning but it sounds like there’s a treatment plan in place which is good.
Chemo can be very effective and sometimes its reputation is worse than the actual experience? Capox can be tough and there can be a lot of side effects but there’s pills and potions to deal with them and if one doesn’t work then often a different anti sickness tablet for example can make a big difference as can a dosage reduction.

I’ve said before that chemo is daunting but doable and that’s what a lot of the members on this post have found
Try not to worry about the order of your treatment -put your trust in the experts - and focus on whatever they decide on first then once that’s done, you can focus on the next stage.
There’s lots of stoma support on this board and you’ll quickly get into a routine with it.

It's natural to feel overwhelmed. It is alot of information to take in and all the changes just add to it.
Chemo is more tolerable than you think. It's no walk in the park but it isn't as scary as it appears in movies. I had 6 weeks of chemo radiation and 8 cycles of Folfox. I would do more if medically indicated.
If you haven't already, get your tumor tested for mutations that impact treatment. A jump from stage 1 to metastatic disease is huge. Knowing your mutations may open up more effective treatment options.
Hi Caz76
You might find it encouraging to read Marianne26 story . She has done very well using ablation .
My own mum had a lung resection back in 2016 and had no issues again until 2022 .
Lots of people treating it as a chronic condition .
Lung lesions are notoriously slow growing for a lot of people . They watched my mums for years .
But it’s a terrible shock for you and hope is so important as you get your plan together .
Take care ,
Court
