Morning all,
I’ve had 1 chemo treatment out of 4 needed but have found that my face is incredibly dry/red and sore. My skin routine consists of using a simple face wipe followed by simple moisturiser! Has anyone experienced this and can recommend what to do to rehydrate my skin? I have got some hydrochloride moisture bomb face masks but not sure if I’m allowed to use them?
Any help would be gratefully received
Charlotte
Hi Charlotte just to say thanks again for the CeraVe recommendation.
I’m now into Week 4 Chemoradiotherapy with not too many awful side effects so far thank goodness.
But by the end of last week my very dry facial skin had become red and scaly on forehead and cheeks due to the Capecitabine, as well as a few tender red patches on my shoulder and neck. So yesterday I changed from the gentle Aveeno moisturiser, serum and face cream I’d been trying to the CeraVe SPF30. What a difference! - it’s light and easily absorbed but rich. I love it and it’s worked fast! I’d bought the eye cream too as I’ve had a tender patch just in the corner of my eye/nose area and didn’t want the SPF getting in my eye! I might even try the cleanser too.
As for moisturising in the abdomen area that’s being zapped daily I’ve been using the Flamigel twice a day as recommended by the hospital so that seems to have worked very well as no skin problems there!
xx
Charlotte thanks very much for the tip about CeraVe creams.
I’ve been using the SPF30 Moisturiser for a few weeks. It’s amazing and softened all the terribly dry flaking skin on my forehead and nose as well as calming down the redness that the Capecitabine causes.
So I’ve bought SPF50 now we’ve got a lot of sunshine and a Night Cream too which is lighter in texture. My thumb tips have been split and bleeding for the past few weeks and little was helping but I noticed the “CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment for Very Dry and Chapped Skin” (it’s a darker blue tube) and that is very good. It sort of numbs the pain and heals.
