So we have had my husband’s results - after chemo-radiation, followed by neoadjuvant Capox we have had good news and bad news

The good news being that 90% of his low rectal tumour had gone! ( for reference he was graded T4N2M0)

the bad news ( it’s not bad but obviously we’re very apprehensive) is that he now has to have full APER surgery for the residual tumour which is scheduled for 4-6 weeks time

my question is, he asked surgeon today if it’s possible we could go away before his surgery, surgeon said yes.
but has anyone tried to get insurance for a winter sun holiday at this stage In treatment? My husband is very keen to go, but I don’t think he’s realised how tricky it might be to get insurance Thinking

Anyone tried or can advise me?
many thanks xx

  • Hi

I hope you don't mind me popping on as I'm not a member of this group but the subject line caught my eye.

You may not be aware but there is a Travel Insurance group which you might like to join. There you'll find recommendations from others who have got travel insurance even though they have a cancer diagnosis.

If you'd like to join the group clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. Once you've joined look for the thread called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' as that's where the majority of the recommendations are. You might also want to look at this thread as it includes a link to a Travel Insurance Directory.

Most people recommend that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also, sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
