So, Jay has phoned this morning to say that he won't be getting home until they are happy with his kidney function. At present it is sitting at 27-29% and it should be up around near the 60 mark. I spoke to the charge nurse on the phone this morning and she said that it is increasing be it slowly. When he was admitted on Thursday it was sitting at 22 so they want it I take it as near to 60 as possible. She said they are going to keep on with the fluids and continually check his bloods. She said it will get there but it can be a slow progress and they are not ready to let him go until they think it is acceptable to do so. This is what happened to me when I went to my yearly review because I have a medical condition. I too have low kidney function but I think mine is sitting at around the 40 mark somewhere which they don't seem concerned about. On the upside, his stoma seems to be working ok again but just need the kidneys to start behaving now. So this has been a setback from what they said earlier this week about the kidneys getting better just hope they can get them to an acceptable level. Not great news to start the year.

Yes it was a long day Court 6 hours just about in resuss. He got taken up to HD just before 10 last night they had to wait on a covid test coming back they took from him and it was negative I could have told them that because I did one with yesterday before the ambulance came and it was the same but obviously they have protocol to follow. So I got back home last night just after 11. William bless him came n got me he had to be up at 4 this morning too to get to work. I told him I'd get a taxi home but he insisted he come and get me. He's a good lad! and he definitely is an old head on young shoulders texting him earlier about his dad getting the op and his reply was 'well if that's what it needs mum to keep him moving he'll just need to live with it'. What a boy!
Hope so Cath! He's not long back from getting the op he phoned me a wee while ago. He has 2 bags on each side of his back now but they're the stick on type like his stoma bag. So he has those, his stoma and his catheter. They don't know yet if the catheter will stay or not though. Just calling him the `Bagman`
Don't know if we can think of something `nice` to happen Cath! We've had so much negative stuff happening recently it's as if it's expected now and if anything, good does happen, it seems gets taken away from us so just can't get positive for the future. I just hope this is his last hospital stint for a while at least!

Thanks Cath you may just be right. He reckons he'll be in there until the middle of next week at least. They will want to make sure everything is in `working order` before they let him go. He phoned earlier and said his bags are filling up nicely and that's what they want to see plus his blood pressure needs to be sitting at an acceptable level. He said that he still has traces of infection so that's still being worked on too. He's definitely been through the `pan mill` alright.

So, latest update on my beloved Jay. He phoned this morning he had had a cup of coffee- in a china cup!! and they are happy with his bags he said there was a little bit of blood in his urine so more antibiotics given. He sounds a bit `groggy` but to be expected with all sorts of wires coming out him I suppose. He had a bed bath as well given by two femaie nurses so no doubt he would have loved that especially if it were two `dolly birds`. He's eating well too had his dinner last night- lasagne. Said he may get a visit from the surgeon who did his cancer operation last year as he was talking to one of the doctors this morning and mentioned her to him and he said he may let her know he's in and she may drop by later. He struck up a good rapport with her and she's lovely.

Jay been on the phone again. He has been moved to a surgical ward seems its another part of High Dependency but don't know if that's a `step down` from where he was in regards to recovery. Doctor has been round to see him again said his kidneys are flushing well and bags are filling nicely which is what they want to see because he said the doctor said if nothing was still happening there they would be very worried. His blood sugar, pressure and temperature have all stabalised but its just the infection now that is taking time to clear which was seemingly quite bad. What the doctor did say to him was, that it isn't getting any worse so it's sort of going in the right direction and it definitely was his kidneys that were infected. The doctor told him to say `well done to me` too for phoning the ambulance when I did because had I left it any later it may have been a whole lot worse. They can't say yet how long he'll be there it will just be until the infection clears which hopefully won't be too long.
