Hey all
So I’ve been having some issues in relation to my bowel and I’ve always had issues with piles but the doctor did a qfit test on the 25th August and that came back positive (result was 84)
Had a letter from the hospital and they requested another qfit test before booking in a colonoscopy due to Covid. I’m awaiting these test results at the moment.
I’ve been a bit taken back with the results on the 25th and getting worried now that it could be something more serious as I’ve had thyroid cancer in the last (diagnosed in May 2019) and completed the treatment (Surgery and RAI).
Hi . It sounds like your doctor is being very vigilant which is good. It may be the piles that are causing the high reading but it is worth having the colonoscopy just to get checked out - only 1 in 10 colonoscopies result in a cancer diagnosis. It is a very stressful time while waiting for appointments and results but remember that thoughts are not facts and try not to worry about something that isn’t a problem yet and may not become one?
Please let us know how you get on?
Take care

Thanks Karen for the reply
The doctor did say that it could be other issues and not cancer. There is a history of colitis in the family and they did mention it. Inflammation test came back normal (was at 40 and the range of a normal result is 0 to 50).
The piles are right at the end of the colon which the doctor did take into consideration which lead to the urgent referral to the hospital. Im more worried that due to the cancer treatment with the thyroid cancer this could have caused the new issue with the bowel.
