Hi just wondering if I can get some advice please, have been informed the big c is now in my bones, unsure what the future holds now, would be grateful to hear from others, sorry if this sounds a bit long winded

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I don't have any experiences of cancer that has spread to the bones to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.

I had a peek at your profile to see where your primary was but you haven't completed it yet. It might help you if you also join the group for your primary cancer and post there as well. If you want to tell me what type of cancer you have I can provide a link for you or you can have a look through this list. When you find the right one just click on the link to join.

In the meantime I have found this information from Macmillan on secondary bone cancer for you which includes a section on treatment and what happens afterwards.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi. I have secondary bone cancer too. my primary was breast cancer, you can read my profile instead of me having to explain. Like latchbrook said its best to take a few minutes to fill in your profile because there are so many types of cancers and secondaries. I was diagnosed with bone cancer in March of this year, the week before lockdown my timing has never been very good. l have it in a good many bones from my knees up to the base of my brain. My main one is in my spine and i had to have bone cemented into my spine to stableize the spine it was so bad. There are many types of treatment available to halt the progress of bone cancer and make them stable some people on this forum have been treated for many years. You probably know its only treatable and not curable, but there are new treatments coming available all the time. You  will probably have a MRI every 3 months and the oncologist will have a look and see if the treatment is working to keep it under control. I take a tablet form of chemo and its a lot easier and kinder than intravenous chemo, but there are lots of different types of treatments.I think once you are on a treatment plan things will settle down and you will feel  more in control of things its early days. As for what the future holds no one on here can answer that one, but hopefully many more years to come would be nice. I wish you all the very best please keep safe x
