Hello,  I have just joined this forum, I was diagnosed with bone cancer on my femur yesterday and I don’t really no what to expect

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I can't help with what you might expect now you've been diagnosed with bone cancer, as I had a different type of cancer, but I noticed that your post hasn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier for the other group members to see.

This information from Macmillan about bone cancer might help answer some of your questions.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Solo19

I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in lymph nodes and spine a few weeks ago following lots of tests and scans.  I initially had one zap of radiotherapy to ease pain and help shrink the tumour.  I was also put on Letrozole as the cancer is ER+, palbociclib which is a tablet form of chemo and get an injection every 4 weeks of Denomusab for bone strengthening.  All very scary but so far I haven’t really had any side effects.  Just hope it’s all working.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Kaz,

thsnks that helped massively, it is incredibly scary and I just don’t know what to expect, I’m waiting on my first consultation which will hopefully be in the next 10 days, I’m so up, down and feeling completely overwhelmed, you have really been through the mill,  I’m glad you haven’t had any side effects, and hopefully your treatment is working
