Hi, I’ve recently had an operation to remove a chordoma on the base of my skull, and unfortunately have become completely deaf, also I can’t walk properly due to dizziness and no balance , I was just wondering if anyone else has /is suffering this and if it was a temporary thing ?

many thanks

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read of the problems you're having after surgery. I'm not from this group so I can't advise but by responding to your post it will place it back at the top where it may be seen by more members. It may be worth speaking to your CNS or asking someone to on your behalf because of the new deafness. Your CNS may be able to help in getting walking aids for you at home to assist your balance and improve your safety. Alternatively it may be worth getting in touch with your GP and district nurses/OT will assess you at home.

I hope it is temporary and that things improve for you.

  • Thankyou for your reply, I already have a walking frame loaned to me very kindly by the hospital, and will look into the other things you’ve suggested.

    many thanks
