Hello everyone

I've not officially been diagnosed yet but got multiple masses in my bladder.  Surgeon didn't actually say the word but did say at least stage 2.

Anyway onward!  Coincidentally I had a breast biopsy last week and today I was told it was benign which was a massive relief.

Got my turbt in 2 weeks.  Had scans today to see  if it has spread so far.  I've not been ill AT ALL but have had blood in piss for a year.  Thank you doctor and your you've got a urine infection messages.

I felt doom and gloom yesterday but after today's news I feel much better.

Op and treatment at King's college london.

  • Sorry meant consultant, not surgeon.

  • Hi  and welcome to this friendly group. Your story will be familiar to many of us. It is not uncommon to be referred late as early symptoms often reflect UTIs. The good thing is now you are in the system. Be aware that BC can be treated successfully and many here can tell the tale. A TURBT is a relatively straightforward procedure. Usually done in day surgery but prepare for an overnight just in case. Lots of experiences here so always someone here with an answer to any questions or to just chat. You will get plenty of support here as you go forward so stick with us. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Pictime,

Sorry you're here but good that you are now in the system and  have the beginnings of a treatment plan. Plus the good news about the breast biopsy, of course.

I didn't find out that the strange blob shown to me during the cystoscopy without comment  (looking like a cross between a verruca and Denis the Menace's hair ) was actually cancer until the post TURBT review 3 weeks after the op. So your early if informal heads up with the consultant sounds like a good thing to me too.

I'm also in London but soon  realised by reading this forum that lots of hospitals seem to do their own thing on treatment (within NICE guidelines).

The thing to hang onto is that this illness is very treatable and until the tissue retrieved during the TURBT is checked they can't be definitive about  what treatment is needed.

If you want to know more about bladder cancer there are excellent booklets online in this site. And other sites such as NHS and Cancer research are good too. Random googling can often drag one down rabbit holes so isn't recommended.

    All the best,
