I am here to find out more about bladder cancer and how to support my husband since his diagnosis in March 2026.  We are still in a state of shock really as we try to come to terms with it. My husband is very 'matter of fact' about everything and taking it step by step, we have been together for almost 50 years so I know this is his usual approach to life's ups and downs.  I am not so stoic. He is 65 and has been retired for a couple of years.  I retired aged 64 at the end of April but obviously now our plans and priorities are changed since the diagnosis. I just want to try and make sense of everything.

  • Hi sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis its a shock but bladder cancer is treatable when you have a plan in place with your team you and you're husband will fèel better use this forum the people on it are brilliant and can answer your questions my very best wishes Phil.

  • Welcome to this friendly group. Step by step is about right at this early point. A cancer diagnosis is always a shock, but as Rictic says, usually very treatable and it may well be curable. I was diagnosed age 56 and am still here getting on with my life age 71. Probably he is waiting for a TURBT (removal of the tumour and biopsy), or waiting for results of that. Once you know the stage and grade, then there will be a discussion about treatment options. Then you can start making plans again. Feel free to ask any questions here, but bear in mind we can only speak from experience, we are not medical experts. Best wishes to you both.
