Im new to using a forum. Haven't been given a formal diagnosis yet. They found a mass at the dome of my bladder on a ultrasound, ive had CT scan, flexible cystoscopy and had TURBT yesterday. Its a frightening place to be.
Hi Danie1985 and Forncett and a welcome to the group to both of you. Firstly, be aware that BC can be treated successfully and many here can tell the tale. We know how anxious the early days of not knowing and uncertainty can be. When you get and accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan in place, things tend to get a bit easier to deal with as you have something positive to focus on. Lots of support here going forward. Best wishes.
Welcome to this group, though I'm sure you'd rather not need to be here. We are all familiar with the stress of diagnosis and waiting for results. The good aspect is that the problem has been detected and is being addressed - bladder cancer is very treatable if caught early. You will probably have to wait a few weeks for results and treatment options. Quite often they do a second TURBT before making a final decision on stage and grade.
In the meantime, if you are experiencing problems following the TURBT, be sure to drink plenty, even if urination is painful. Take things easy for a couple of weeks, as there is healing going on inside, as well as the after effects of the anaesthetic. Hope all goes well for you and feel free to come and share any concerns here, or just have a chat.
Thankyou for your kind words, its the fear of the unknown and i appreciate that im making myself worse by worrying, i second guess everything, when i had my cystoscopy and urologist told me i said im on holiday on the 12th March for a week and he said ok we avoid those dates but now im thinking did i do the right thing or should I just of cancelled my holidays
Thankyou, and yeah be nice if didnt need to be here but equally I'm glad this exists. I dont really have any support apart from my 9 year old son.
The consultant before the TURBT said it would be about 3 weeks when I hear from them because they need to have a team meeting. I asked what the treatment looked like going forward and he mentioned removing my whole bladder.
There's just been so much happen in 2 weeks im struggling mentally to catch up.
Thank you. I was absolutely dreading the GA as I am always ill with it so I opted for spinal anaesthesia. I’d had a few c sections so knew what to expect. I’m glad I did. I was sedated but felt fine during and after the op. Was able to eat and drink straight away.
Catheter in for 2 days and since then have felt fine. Drinking plenty of squash and trying to eat well.
All the best to you too.
