Hi

Please see my about profile for some background.

I'm new to this group and had a TURBT in September 2025 and awaiting first follow up cystoscopy in January.  It was grade 2/low grade papillary urothelial carcinoma pTa.  It hadn't got into the muscle layer of the bladder

I have the complication that I have been on prostate cancer active surveillance for over 7 years now and am aged 64.  This may need a procedure in 2026.

I am wondering what my journey may be like with bladder cancer and am interested to hear others stories.

All the best, Nigel

  • Hi Nige, sorry that you’re here but welcome to this friendly group..

I had non muscle invasive tumour in April 24, I’ve gone down the BCG route… the first 12 were very straight forward with not many side effects. 13-15 have been a different story though.. very sore when peeing…others will have there own journey to tell you…ask any questions, good luck on your journey…

  • Hi Nigel,Welcome to this friendly and supportive group.I hope you find it helpful.Best wishes Jane

  • Hi there, I'm fenale so don't have the prostate complication. Sounds like you BC is simply under surveilance, which is fairly usual for pTaG2. Sometimes they suggest BCG immunotherapy if you get many recurrences - BC is one of the most recurrent cancers. It's only if it becomes high grade that treatment needs to be more aggressive.

I understand your concern about over treatment. I opted for surgery for my BC, which is pretty radical, but has given me peace of mind. The problem often is not knowing if things will get worse or not. We all have to make the choice that feels right for us, given what information is available. Hope all continues well for you.
