I’ve joined to research info and get support because sadly my 88 year old indestructible, hugely independent dad has been diagnosed with a tumour. He’s being very stoic about it all. He has a CT scan next week, potentially an op in 4 weeks. I don’t have very many details and unfortunately I don’t live close to them so this is additional worry.
Hello RoobyRed04b9d4 and welcome to this friendly and supportive group. Sorry to hear your dad has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Firstly, know bladder cancer can be treated successfully. The CT scan is routine to check nothing else is going on. The op is usually done in day surgery and results of biopsies dictate the next step. Try and steer clear of Google as there is a lot of out of date information out there. Macmillan have produced information about BC HERE .Lots of experience here so always someone with an answer. Best wishes.
Hi RoobyRed04b9d4,Welcome to the group.I’m sorry to hear your dad has a tumour. The first step after diagnosis is a procedure called a TURBT which stands for Trans Urethral resection of bladder tumour. This is usually done under a general anaesthetic, the tumour is removed and biopsies are taken and sent for analysis.Once the biopsy results are back this will determine the treatment plan.Feel free to ask any questions on here as we are all here to help and support.Best wishes Jane
