Wave hi!  I’m 42, recently had a nephrouterectomy after being told I had stage 3 UTUC.  Biopsy came back as grade pt3, but thankfully clear margins and no spread to lymph nodes.  I’m about to start adjuvent Gemcis chemo.  I wondered if there is anyone else out there navigating this one?  It feels like quite a lonely path at the moment.x

  • Hi sjmargs and welcome to the group.

Sorry to hear your situation. I had a regime of gem/cis before my RC. There are a number of side effects associated with the treatment but you will be given all the information before the treatment begins. As we are all individual we will react differently to the course. The only major side effect I had was severe tiredness and feeling lethargic but I think this happens to everyone . You will be given anti sickness and steroids to help you through it.

Never think you are on your own. This forum has many members with a wealth of experience and that's first hand experience. You can talk here about anything if you are feeling unsure. Others will be along soo  to offer their advice and experience. Please let us know how you are doing.

    Best wishes

  • Hi  . I went through Gem/Cis. Didn't really have a problem with it except tiredness towards the end. People have different reactions to it and you can't really predict what will happen. I had the usual 3 cycles. A cycle is a long day one week followed by a short day the following week. It can be a long day in the chair so take plenty of drinks and snacks and something to keep you busy. Chemo lounges are usually friendly and upbeat and not all doom and gloom as you may expect. I hope it goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
