Hey All,  I was diagnosed on 1st May, had TURBT on 11th May to remove 2 tumours, pathology came back as G2PTA, non invasive. I had a mitomycin wash immediately and now have a 6 week course as my treatment. How soon does this usually start does anyone know? I’m 5 weeks post surgery and haven’t had a start date yet.
Also , exercise….. . I had a lazy 2 weeks, then started riding my horse again and went out walking/jogging (slow jogging) and have been fine. Then I did some sits up 2 days ago and noticed a bit of blood so I think I’ve done too much. No more sit ups for me.
Have gone through all the emotions with this and currently feeling ok, but that definitely changes every couple of days. Love reading through all the chats, it helps so much to make sense of all of this.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the group. Lots of varying experiences here so always some with an answer for any questions. They usually like to let the bladder heal after a TURBT before starting further treatment. Six weeks is about average. Also any strenuous exercise can aggravate the bladder and cause signs of blood. Two weeks or so after a TURBT the scab will start to break away from the wound and also show signs of blood as part of the natural healing process. Important to drink plenty of water to keep things flushed out. Obviously anything excessive needs medical advice. I hope all goes well with your treatment. It can be a long process so stay with us going forward. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hey. It’s a complete roller coaster. I cried today and have been apparently fine for weeks!! Having cancer adds an unwanted guest to every day. I try to distract myself while still facing up to the this is horrible feelings!! This group have helped me so much. Wishing you calm and strength x

  • Hi TLShorsemad!

Bless ya! I hated, as I think we all did, the waiting game!

For me it was about a 6 week wait after my last op too and then everything happened really quickly!

The chemo wash in the meantime should help slow everything down and help bridge the gap while they decide which treatment route is best.

They do have to wait for the bladder to be as healthy as possible before they start the treatments as the treatment itself can be a lot for it to cope with, otherwise It's like rubbing salt, lemon and caustic soda in to a blister otherwise and nobody needs that!!!

I'm sure you'll hear something very soon, if in doubt call urology or contact your doctor to see if there's any updates but for myself and lots of other people on the forum it was around the six week mark we all heard something.

In the meantime, there's lots of us here on the forum for you to chat with. You're definitely not alone!

Best wishes and keep us posted!
