Hiya, I’m new to this group, I had my operation to remove my tumour on my bladder on Thursday and now resting at home, I have a CT scan on Tuesday and I’m now waiting on the results from the removal to determine next steps with total removal of my bladder and chemo being considered.

anyone been through this that can offer any advice?

thanks

  • Hi Bill52

Welcome to the group. You'll find this group very helpful there are some people on here that have been through everything and are only to willing to help.

I myself had a turbt back in November. I have invasive bladder cancer and require my bladder and prostrate to be removed

I started my chemotherapy on Thursday and once the chemo finishes I'll have my operation.

It's important I believe and I tell others is to stay positive and look to the future.

Welcome once again to the group and don't hesitate to ask any questions

    Stay positive

  • Hi  and welcome to this friendly and supportive group. Lots of varying experiences here with people going through various stages of treatment. A CT scan is routine, just to check there is nothing else going on and it adds to the picture of what they are dealing with. When you get your results, you should be given a stage and grade and this determines the next step. Bit early to be thinking of bladder removal. This is a step by step procedure so try not to think too far ahead. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Bill,

Welcome to this friendly group. Had my first TURBT couple of years ago now, and had to have a second before they could get definitive result I understand that having two TURBTs is fairly common so don't be alarmed if this happens for you ( not saying it will be needed).

Also had a CT scan another part of the process.

I know it's probably hard too comprehend at the moment but it does get easier when you have a treatment plan in place. I'm not saying it's a walk in the park, but emotionally and mentally things became less stressful etc, well did for me.

Hope you rest and recover well and keep us posted on how things are going for you.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Trevor

  • Thanks for the kind words & support Trevor Thumbsup

  • Like rily says it is best to take it a step at a time otherwise it can feel a bit overwhelming.Once you have had the TURBT(S) it’s common to have a second one and the biopsy results are back you will know more about what treatment is available.Best wishes for your scan and a speedy recovery from your procedure.Keep up your fluid intake as that will help. Most on here find lemon barley water helpful to drink.Jane

  • Thanks for that Winkers, is it normal to feel exhausted after the procedure? I just want to sleep all the time

  • Yes you can feel tired from the anaesthetic plus cancer is tiring. You can also feel weary from the mental tiredness at the start.Hopefully you will pick up energy soon.Take it easy.Jane
