Hiya, I’m new to this group, I had my operation to remove my tumour on my bladder on Thursday and now resting at home, I have a CT scan on Tuesday and I’m now waiting on the results from the removal to determine next steps with total removal of my bladder and chemo being considered.

anyone been through this that can offer any advice?

thanks

  • Awe thanks Jane, just wondered if it was just my age Joy

  • Hi Bill52, In August 23 I was where you are and since then have had chemo, my bladder removed and have had a stoma for 2 years. I have been back to normal from quite soon after they took my bladder away but we're all different so as everyone says take it a step at a time and do what your body tells you it needs. You may be rather shocked at the moment to find yourself here, but things become easier to deal with as you start to go through the process.

My advice is not to Google - if your people didn't give you much information get it from the Macmillan site - lots of useful and accurate documentation here. We have all been where you were but each hospital/specialist seems to have their own ways of doing things - the end result is the same, however, we all have the treatment we need.

People here can usually fill you in on things that they have experienced which may help if you have questions and are all very kind.

If 52 refers to your date of birth we're the same age and there is no reason to think life after the treatment will be any worse than before, although it will be different. Personally, having a night bag meaning that I don't have to get up in the night to urinate is a big improvement.

    Good luck,
