I was diagnosed with MIBC in October 2022, and received 3 cycles of chemotherapy (2400mg Gemcitabine, 63 mg Cisplatin), I refused a RC (operation) due to the fact I had previously received 37 sessions of 2Gys for prostate cancer in 2011. The main Surgeon suggested I would need two stomas, because my bowl wall is extremely thin!
Initially, I thank the NHS for my treatment.
I have contacted my local MP and she has shared a document with the health minister for a MIBC bladder sparing trial.
For anyone who has not seen this, please search the New York Trial, (Mount Sinai) it's quite refreshing.
I would also pay tribute to anyone who has had a RC.
I have also posted to my fantastic local MP about pancreatic cancer, she has once again acknowledged my concern!
Hi brylynne. Always good to hear of something new on the horizon. We often hear of trials like this, but generally nothing much comes from them. Best wishes.
My pleasure.
Does anyone know about bladder sparing trials, for anyone who can't have radiotherapy, or a RC?
How to access or volunteer.
My treatment and care has been fantastic, prostate cancer for 13 years and MIBC for two years. Thank you NHS. ( I have been unlucky and lucky!).
