Sorry to bother you. Have just had a Cystoscopy because I had bleeding. They have discovered something in my Bladder. Very worried it is Cancer. I have got to have Biopsies. I suffer from anxiety and depression. Very frightened.

Kind regards James.

  • Thanks all for your prompt replies. To me having to wear Tena Men pants and not being in control is a failure. I only had some blood on the day following my cystoscopy.

They did not remove the whole abnormal area. There was just blood in the catheter bag. This alarmed me. I had it done on Wednesday, It is now Sunday and should be healed by now. This is why I have had enough.

    Kind regards James.

  • James, your anxiety has failed to defeat you so far. You are doing well to face each step despite misgivings and have tolerated the treatment which can help you. With the stone gone, that's a huge plus. We will continue to help you through this. None of us enjoy the symptoms of illness but, left untreated, life can get extremely miserable. Your recovery sounds normal to me. The inconveniences of overnight frequency and traces of bleeding should gradually subside. Lots of good, supportive help has been given by other forum members. Consult the professionals if and when your concerns about recovery need investigation/further assistance. Meanwhile, wishing you continued progress in to your 70s. I'm 75 and can assure you that life in to your 70s can be ok. Not as exciting as being 18, true Grinning.

  • James,The majority of us on here will have gone through this as part of the recovery process.I certainly have. It’s not very pleasant but it should get better.Your bladder has taken a bit of a battering so it is bound to take a while to calm. You have done so well to have this procedure.Best wishes Jane x

  • Dear James, unless you have medical training you haven't let on about, you are not best placed to actually say that you "should not have any blood or have to get up so often in the night." If you want to know if that's really true, besides the sensible experienced post from Jane [winkers60] pick up the phone tomorrow and call the cancer nurse specialist or someone in Urology.

I have to say, having been diagnosed at long last in January with autism, and I'm only a little younger than you, your struggle with the unpredictable and things that are not normal seems very like you too might be as they say, 'on the spectrum' ie have autism.

I hope this comment won't be offensive to you, please don't think of my autism or anyone else's as a defect. It's no more so than different eye colour. But what it can mean is that others fail to understand just how difficult some things are for us.

I have found that getting this autism confirmed has been wonderful, as now I don't feel inferior about things that are hard for me. On the other hand I'm more proud of the things I'm better at than others. Getting a diagnosis as an adult can be a long haul. But if my hunch is right, it would explain why the anxiety tablets don't work for you James. People with autism do not always react to many medications as others do.

    Best regards,

  • Hi again James

Glad to see you have now had your TURBT done this will really help although you may not think so at the moment as for for the blood in the urine I had blood in the catheter for 3 to 4 days and  it lessoned each day and then once again after they removed the catheter after 5 days for a visit or two to the loo I had discomfort for roughly 2-3 weeks and again this improved as time went on please try to remember it’s usually a one way street your urethra and really should not have medical implements pushed down it the other way under normal circumstances try to be kind to yourself and not overthink every bit of discomfort or blood tinged urine you may see  I would at least give it two full weeks before it would become a major concern and felt the need to contact anyone medically or maybe speak to your specialist nurse

    all the best

    Ste

  • Hi James, I am wondering have you had any help for your OCD ? may i ask what kind of OCD it is ?

Everyone on here has given you advice from personal experience and knowledge, I do hope you can get some reassurance from it, even if it is only temporary. contact the urology dept or cancer nurse specialist in the morning and please explain the situation. Discuss your worries and your mental health problems, I really hope some one can help you get through this and when you are past it, you will look back on it and feel you were supported and courageous. Very best wishes to you

    Much love Angela x

  • @Halofan great reply Angela

  • Hi and thanks for all the help you are giving me. Denby, it has been mentioned that I may be on the spectrum by my GP. The OCD I suffer from is about health, germs, catching things and not wanting to change foods I eat or rituals I have.

I just hope I get some sleep tonight to get to M&S on Monday morning.

    Kind regards James.

  • It must be very difficult for you James.I hope you have a better night.Best wishes Jane

  • Dear James, to me that is marvellous news, that your GP actually mentioned you may be on the spectrum. There is a self test called the AQ50, or a short version the AQ10, widely available online. I believe it doesn't change the score whether you slightly or definitely agree/disagree with the various statements.

I did the AQ50, took my high score to my GP and got sent away with a flea in my ear as to what the point of diagnosis was. I was furious, came home and discovered online that in my county at that time, I could self refer. That's why it's so good your GP mentioned it, he/she is obviously not anti you getting a diagnosis.

Some areas are now cutting back on providing assessments for people who are "coping well". But you definitely could do with being better understood and helped with ways to manage better. Please try to fit in asking the GP to get you referred for diagnosis, with an AQ score if you can as evidence.

On the physical front, do be aware that if you do not drink plenty, the more concentrated urine will actually irritate your waterworks, causing you to get up more frequently and it be more painful possibly to pass, than a greater volume of more dilute urine.

Sending wishes for a restful night.
