Sorry to bother you. Have just had a Cystoscopy because I had bleeding. They have discovered something in my Bladder. Very worried it is Cancer. I have got to have Biopsies. I suffer from anxiety and depression. Very frightened.

Kind regards James.

  • Hi Joyce,It’s hard at the start of the diagnosis.I found it like being bereaved with the various emotions you feel. You just need time to process everything and then you should find your old self returning. It’s ok to feel however you are feeling happy or sad.
    Love Jane xx

  • Thank you all for your comments and thoughts.Threre is still some blood present and pain when I pass water. I am not sure if this normal on the third day after the operation but I managed to sleep until 5:00 am this morning.

    Kind regards James.

  • Hi James. The stinging sensation when peeing can last a week or so, but should subside as the days go by. Signs of blood is also normal as long as it is not excessive and it should gradually lessen as the wound heals. Just to repeat, keep taking on plenty of water. Some people recommend a touch of lemon barley in the water to help get it down. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks rily. I had a very bad night and was up and down about 5 times passing some blood. I am getting desparate now. I was better before I had this done. It has been a waste of time and has made me worse. I can see no positive end to all this. If things are going to be like this or worse from now on I wish I had not made it through the operation. I seem to go from one extreme to another. I see all the happy people passing my house and this just make things worse. I did not want to get to 70 and sometimes feel I have died and gone to hell. I will soon be told I have cancer and this will be the end for me.

    Kind regards James.

  • Dear James, please , have you tried telling your GP how you feel? You really deserve, and as far as I can tell long distance, need and should be given, some help with how you feel. But they can't help if they don't know. Can they?

By the way, you don't actually know the people passing your house don't have just as much worry or health trouble as you, even if they are visibly laughing on the outside.

Sending as ever concerned good wishes, Denby

  • Dear James,Please don’t despair. There is no reason to think the op has been a waste of time.It can take a few days for the pain and frequency to settle.Leaving the stone in would have caused problems.Have you got anyone to speak with about how this is affecting you mentally ? I hope your GP is good,it would be beneficial to talk to someone.Best wishes Jane

  • James what operation did you actually have? Leo

  • Retrovanian,

You are worried and upset. It is perfectly understandable. Please take a deep breath and try to look at things as they are, not how you fear they may be:

    1. You had a problem, saw a doctor and as a result have had an operation - that can affect anyone's mood. Talking to someone about this situation is a very good idea.
    2. You do not know yet what they found out from the samples they took, so have jumped to a conclusion (it may be correct but try and wait until you really know rather than going down any rabbit holes.)
    3. As far as it being a waste of time, the operation got rid of one problem for you - the stone - and you need to give your body time to recover.
    4. One other positive outcome that I can see is that you when they tell you what else they found, if anything, you will then gain a very clear understanding of what you will then be facing. That is the time to gather yourself and decide if there is anything you can or should do about it. Although it may need some strength to take further steps and you may be wasting energy that would help you then, on worrying now.
    5. Doing nothing, if it is cancer, causes even worse symptoms than you have had so far - as I have told you in the past from my own and my mother's experience.
    6. None of us knows what people passing by may be suffering from. But if they look happy that may just be because they have found a way to cope with what life throws at them. Maybe some of them also feel as if they have gone to hell from time to time?
    7. Being 70 is not a punishment, neither is having cancer or any other illness.

Remember, all  of us here have had to face more or less exactly what you are facing. Some of us had people to talk to beside us, others had to look further afield. That is why we are listening to you and suggesting things that can help.

    Good luck,

  • I had biopsies taken of an abnormal area of my bladder Leo1 and a bladder stone removed. I am on tablets for my Anxiety. OCD but when things go wrong they don't help much. I can't tolerate anything that is not normal and I am sure this operation went wrong. I should not have any blood or have to get up so often in the night.

    Kind regards James.

  • Dear James,It is common to get blood and frequency after this operation with biopsies. It doesn’t mean something has gone wrong.Keep up your fluids,it will settle.Best wishes Jane
