Hi about three weeks ago I had a Turbt and because of the size of my tumour it has blocked my kidney so I then had to have had a stent fitted to unblock it all this happened in just over a week from diagnosis to operation.
I am still in disbelief about it all . I have been told I will have to have my bladder removed and need chemotherapy but am waiting for a PET scan to be done.
On the meantime I do get sharp stabbing pains which I have had explained by the team but I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to ease them , also I am more constipated which has never been a problem before all this .
I have upped my fiber intake and I am drinking a lot of water, does any one have suggestions that might help.
I would be really grateful.. thank you
Hi Magicroundabout and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear you are having post TURBT pains. Various aches and pains are common after treatment and usually subside after time. Do you have a CNS (cancer/clinical nurse specialist) ? If so, this would be the best person to talk to for advice. You could talk to your local pharmacist regarding pain relief, but if it continues or gets worse, then contact urology. Best wishes.
Thank you, I am still getting head around it and have not had the courage to look at the information pack . So I will look for her card .
Hi Magicroundabout, welcome to the forum. I can feel the shock and disbelief in your post. My heart goes out to you, trying to get your head round the past few weeks and all the information that has been given to you. I do hope you have been given a specialist nurse, they are a wonderful help . Perhaps they can advise you on how to treat the constipation and pain, or maybe you could talk to your GP about that.
There are many on this forum who have experience and will be able to answer questions you have. please stay in touch, you are among friends who can steady you through this journey. Take care
Much love Angela x
Thank you Angela for your kind words , I will talk to the nurse as my GP is very hard to get hold of .. I had to go on the website to she what he looked like.
I can already feel and see this forum is going to be a great help as your reply has already madee feel less lost .
Love Emmax
Hi Magicroundabout
I had a TURBT almost a year ago and have since a radical cystectomy to remove bladder, prostate and lymph nodes.
I fully understand what you’re going through but believe me it will get better.I am 8 months from the major surgery and three months from a minor one to remove my remaining urethra. I have been given the all clear and at 78 years of age feel really well, mainly as a result of improved sleep with no more getting up in the night.
Having gone through all that I believe the TURBT was the worst and most painful part. I had the pains you describe for about three weeks and in that period rarely left the house for fear leaks. I refused strong painkillers because they worsen constipation and made do with paracetamol. After three weeks the pain subsided rapidly as did the urgency. I did suffer constipation after the cystectomy. Consultant told me this is common as the bowel is now shorter but settles into a new position where the bladder was previously. Again it all settled down after a few weeks with no need for laxatives now for several months.
Stay positive you will get through it & feel better than before once it’s all done.
Thank you your reply really helps me to understand it more .
They are talking about removing my bladder depending on if the cancer has spread .
I am 53 yrs old and this has just blown me side ways .
I am hoping it hasn't spread then at least that gives me some hope.
X

Thank you Jane , it is very daunting and as time goes on as long as it hasn't spread which I am hoping it hasn't I will try the prune juice.
