Hi all,
I have been having some pain issues and frequent urination for around four months (the latter has been longer but I put it down to age, I’m 44).
An ultrasound found something on my bladder, after investigations for UTI proved negative. I paid privately for the scan as I felt the NHS wait was too long. The pain got so bad I ended up in A&E twice. The second time I had a CT scan. This showed nothing IN the bladder but calcifications in the bladder wall. At the same time I was under investigation for ovarian cysts and had a (again private) MRI scan with and without contrast which showed what are believed to be functional cysts (along with negative CA-125 and normal lymph nodes). My cystoscopy was last month, and during that, a small white dense, cloud looking lesion was visualised. It doesn’t or didn’t look like anything I have seen on google. The urologist has stated it’s a cystic area and possible early TCC. My TURBT is in two weeks. It may just be because it’s early, but I’m wondering if anyone has found out it’s NOT cancer and perhaps something else? I may be clutching at straws but I don’t get the calcification part and how different it looks? The urologist said it could be inflammation, but what would that be? Hope someone can help. I’m really struggling with this. The eight week wait for TURBT has not helped at all.
Hi Lozzamckste,Welcome to this friendly group. It is possible to get strange looking areas in the bladder with inflammation.I had Interstitial cystitis for 34 years and ended up with a bladder full of scales. It looked like the inside of a kettle. You really won’t know for sure whether this area is cancer or inflammation until the TURBT results are back. You could try cutting out anything spicy, citrus fruits, tomatoes and onions and see if that helps with the pain.I feel for you, bladder pain is horrible.Let us know how you get on,there is plenty of support on here.Best wishes Jane x
Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it. I’m trying to understand what they meant by inflammation, so that is really helpful, thank you :-)
