Hi, had non-invasive bladder cancer diagnosed mid August. Have had surgery and Mitomycin on 18th Aug. Wasn’t as straightforward as expected. Was sent home same day but re-admitted as catheter bag was full of blood clots. Stayed in 5 days. This was an incidental finding and I’m still trying to process it. Is it normal for your mind to be working overtime and not be able to concentrate on things. Any advice gratefully received, thanks

  • Absolutely normal. Welcome to the group, we are all familiar with the shock of diagnosis and envisaging worst scenarios. You will have a wait of a couple of weeks or so until the biopsy results are available. That will inform what treatment is most appropriate. Unfortunately BC is prone to recur, but if caught early, is very treatable. As your surgery was back in August, perhaps you’ve already had follow up?
if I have trouble sleeping, I listen to podcasts. Otherwise, try to keep occupied - exercise is good, and a healthy diet. Best wishes.

  • Hi, Teasswill, many thanks for your advice. Have repeat cystoscopy in November to see if it has come back. I can get to sleep but can’t stay asleep for long and having awful dreams, not to do with cancer but really random. Really glad I spoke to MacMillam they’re so helpful.

  • Hi Julez,Welcome to the group.I hope you will find it helpful and supportive.Best wishes Jane

  • Hi Julez,Your mind does go into overdrive at the start but most people feel better mentally once all the results are in and treatment starts. There is lots of advice and support here so do ask questions if you need to.Best wishes for your cystoscopy.Love Jane
