I just wanted to say hello. I am a 45 year old woman with HG PT1. I had a TURBT a couple of months. Unfortunately my leg kicked when they cut out the larger of the two tumours so my bladder was perforated and I had to have a catheter for two weeks while it healed. They had a relook 9 days ago and I am now waiting  for more results and to start Bcg. It was picked up quickly and I have had good treatment so I feel reasonably positive about the future. I have also just started a new job and my oldest child is off to Uni so it's a challenging time. This forum is sooo useful. I would be interested in hearing if there are any other relatively young women out there with bc and whether you think about why it has happened to you??

  • Hi  . Well, I'm not a young woman, but just let me welcome you to the group. Lots of varying experiences here, so always somebody here to answer questions or just chat. We know there are now more young people than used to be on here. No particular reason for it. It used to be an old man's disease because of smoking and heavy industry, but I think it now may have something to do with the modern environment, but who knows. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi

Not a women, but welcome to the Group.

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
  • Hi I’m 56 female and I had RC in January of this year, I had the reconstruction (neo bladder). Recovery was slow and I had a few issues nothing major along the way. 8 months on I feel really good in myself. If there’s anything you would like to ask feel free.  This group really helped me

  • Thank you. So pleased that reconstruction has worked for you. Feel I am at the start of a journey so sure I will have lots of questions along the way.

  • Hi Rowlanda, sorry to hear your news and your complication in surgery and glad you are otherwise recovering well . I am 49 and was diagnosed a few weeks ago . I had a TURBT last Friday and now just waiting biopsy results to know stage and grade although they are hopeful they have caught it early. I was shocked to say the least when I had the cystomony ( not sure I’ve spelt that right) like everyone I’m sure . The first few days I was asking why why why how come and so forth, it was driving me crazy. I am trying to stay positive and like I’m reading in the forum it’s the unknown and the waiting that’s driving us all insane!!
I’m recovering from the surgery well and get my results next Tuesday where I will find out next steps ( so anxious had a couple of meltdowns here and there)  . I also have a CT scan of my upper lungs this Friday as want to be sure all is good . I had a kidney CT with dye etc few weeks ago following blood in my urine and repeat uti s , this is where the suspicious tumour was picked up fortunately. I’d been getting aches and pains and tiredness however just put everything down to post menopause but something made me push to get checked further and the gp I happen to see was amazing and pushed my Gp practice for a 2 week referral and then everything seems to have been like a whirlwind although I can not fault my hospital who have moved fast with all of this . I'm so sorry, its such a shock. You have a lot to process right now.  Hope the results goes OK on Tues. Let us know if you would like to as there is lots of experience in the forum and it can help you make sense of it. I have my 6th bcg treatment on Friday and then a gap till the new year. The treatment has been fine so far. The good thing is there are lots of treatment options if you do need them. It really is an emotional roller coaster and I think it takes a while for the shock to pass. Take care, Alice
