Hi, my partner was recently diagnosed with mibc after 3 months of gross haematuria resulting in emergency admission to hospital and needing 3 transfusions before turbt under general anaesthetic. He kept being fobbed off with antibiotics by 7 different medical professionals until bloods showed he was in need of transfusion. A large tumour was found and most was removed but the surgeon couldn't get it all. After a 6 week wait for follow up appointment we were told it is mibc and that he needs 9 weeks of chemo then a ct scan followed by 3 weeks of chemo then decide on either cystoprostectomy or radical radiotherapy. We now waiting for oncologist appointment to arrange this but last night he started to bleed again with clots has anyone else had similar, we just seem to be waiting for appointments that never come. Thanks x
Hello Channie1, just to say welcome to this most friendly and supportive group.
My husband's bc was not muscle invasive so I can't say much about your partner's situation, but for sure others here will when they see your post. Passing clots after a TURBT is usually up to two weeks later as the wound, ie removal site heals, so if this is six weeks plus, I would be onto them for advice.
What I will say is how awful that his symptoms were so ignored and so repeatedly misread until he was so poorly. If you can manage to, do inform PALS to at least try to save the next person from a repeat performance. Not to mention the antibiotic resistant bugs being encouraged by all the unnecessary treatments....

Hi and a welcome from me. Unfortunately it is not the first time we have seen symptoms being overlooked but good to know your partner is now in the system. I was muscle invasive and went the chemoradiation route. That was nearly ten years ago and so far so good. When waiting for treatment I had some heavy bleeds. Your partner may be called for a follow up TURBT. Thus is not unusual. The time taken for chemo will give him the chance to find out about his options. Following chemo they may look again and review the situation. Best wishes.
Thank you that is very reassuring to read, its all very scary to us at the moment, hopefully we will get to see the oncologist soon so we can start treatment. It's worrying when he was sent home from a&e 14 weeks ago after being told he was to be admitted and a urologist would be doing a cystoscopy that day then they changed their mind and sent him home, they would of seen the tumour and treatment could of been well on the way.
That’s really not good enough.I hope the appointments come through soon. This is a good group for support and advice.Best wishes Jane
