Hi everyone, hope your all well, y mum was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year in October, chemo was not successful and did not shrink the tumour, the cancer has spreaded to her pelvic wall and is stage 4 now, as a 12mm tumour was found in the lung, oncologist has said that mum will never be cancer free, they will manage her cancer and try to give her longtivity, her treatment will start within 3 weeks, she's in hospital today as a blood clot. Any one else in the same position, just need at of reassurance. X
Hi Taffi and welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your mum. We know that if the cancer has spread outside the bladder, it can still be treated although it does make things more difficult. I hope they can sort out her blood clot and make her comfortable. Best wishes.
Hi Taffi. When I was diagnosed nearly 2 year ago I managed to think the worst and started reading about "palliative care". I always thought that meant just "manage pain" but otherwise not much left... I was surprised to read about people who have been pn palliative care for years. Then, my cancer turned out to be curable (for now...?). Each case is different, but it is possible to keep the situation under check, do periodic chemo treatments and keep the spread under control... best of luck to your mum!
