Right next step for me after turbt. On discharge after turbt with catherter in place for a week and told I would be called to go back to remove catherter no further info.. Chatting today I found that procedure vould take some hours to insure bladder would again function correctly and possibly the need to reinsert another catherter if not.
This came as quite a shock none of this process had been mentioned before I was under the impression it was a swift visit at a set appt. Apparently will be called called in maybe just a day before thou on paper states out in 7 days which throws domestic arrangements into chaos for me!
Anyone experienced this procedure and how it works I still don't know from hospital source
I had one for about a week which I was surprised as it was after second Turbt which I thought was going to be more straight forward. Anyway they tell you nothing and I only learned when I got there to have it removed that the bladder might not work straight away etc but it was fine they took it out and I managed to wee, had to drink a jug of water slowly while there but it was all OK.
Thank you for info it is like drawing teeth trying to get info!
Thank you all this info helps settle the nerves!
Hi I’ve had several twocs after my turbt. What they do is take out the catheter which is painless and only takes seconds. They will send you home and tell you to drink a glass of water every hour and return to the hospital/ clinic later that day. If you can pass water on your own then that’s great but if not and you are experiencing pressure because you can pass then go back to the nurse who took it out. Then they will insert another catheter. Either way you will still need to go back to have a bladder scan to see if your bladder is emptying properly and not retaining any urine. Don’t worry it’s a simple and painless procedure inserted or removed. Hope this puts your mind at rest.
