I have just been diagnosed with bladder cancer, still trying to get my head round it, still waiting for CT scan to see how far it had spread, how do other people start to cope with this, telling my family was hard, I wake every morning with a feeling of how do I start dealing with this, any advice would help, thankyou

  • Hi   and welcome to our group, but sorry to find yourself here. The first thing to take in is blabber cancer can be treated successfully and many here can tell the tale. Telling family is the hard thing and good to know you have done this. You will get lots of support and advice here as you move forward, so keep posting, asking questions or just talk to those who understand. The CT scan is routine just to rule anything else out and give them a better picture of what they are dealing with , so don't read anything in to that. Where are you up to at the moment.? What have you had done as a diagnosis ? Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Fairy Bluebell

Sorry to hear this, there are a few of us on here that are recently diagnosed (6th Jan for me) and have had so much support and helpful information from this group

I understand how shocking it is to be told you have bladder cancer

I have had my CT scan and I'm having a TURBT on the 21st February Fearful

It is a very scary time and it helps once you have told your family and close friends and have their support

Love and best wishes, Tina X

  • Hi Fairy Bluebell,Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It is all overwhelming at first but I’m sure you will get plenty of help and support from this friendly group.Love and best wishes Jane xx

  • Hi, any such news is a shock & takes time to assimilate. Once you have a full picture & know what the treatment will be, the way ahead becomes a bit clearer. For the moment, just try to get on with ordinary things - if you can get absorbed in a hobby, that will help, at least for a short while. Exercise is good, go for a walk, punch a pillow, dance to your favourite disco music etc. If I can't sleep, I listen to podcasts. Best wishes.

  • Thankyou so much for your kind words, it really helps to speak to people who know how you are feeling, I was so shocked when I was told I had cancer I couldn't think of what to say, but my own GP is going to speak to the specialist and is going to phone me, so hopefully I will have more information soon.

    • Thankyou for your kind words  talking to people who are going through the same thing is really helpful, I think when I have had my CT scan and my prognosis I will cope better, I think the not knowing is worse, I will definitely try some of your suggestions, thank you for taking the time to reply to me xx
  • Hi Jane, thankyou for taking the time to reply to my post, my friends have been incredible and been so supportive, and this group helps as they know how I'm feeling and offer advice on coping with my diagnosis. Xx

  • HelloTina, thankyou so much for taking time to reply, my diagnosis was 3rd February so as you can imagine still pretty shocked, still waiting to get my CT scan, wishing you all the best for your TURBT, I will be thinking of you, take care xx
