Hello

Yes, I am new to this forum having just registered.  I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer this week.  Not sure what the prognosis will be or at what stage the cancer is until I ask the hospital at my second TURBT which is due next week.

  • Hello  and welcome to the group. We know how the early days of uncertainty can be difficult. A cancer diagnosis is scary, but we know bladder cancer can be treated successfully. A follow up TURBT is usually not as severe as the first. Just to clear things up and get a more accurate diagnosis in order to prepare a treatment plan. You may also have a CT scan to build up the picture. Lots of experience here many of us have been there or supported someone through it. Feel free to ask anything or just come to chat. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks rily, that is reassuring.

  • Hi Ityiwi. I was diagnosed in June 2021. Had TURBT Jul 8th 2021. The op itself is really nothing, at least, I was able to go home a few hours after. The next step is important to decide the treatment: staging and grading.  I had T1aG3 and my doctor said "you are very unlikely to die from this". I could have kissed him! So keep in mind that,  as Rily says, this cancer is one of the most treatable. Despite all similar reassurances from people on this forum, the period of wait to know stage and grade was a very scary one for me so I understand the worry.. but in the end they were right: don't worry too much!

All the best and do let us know!

  • Thank you for the reassurance.. yes it is worrying at the moment and I guess the results from the 2nd Turbt will determine what treatment they will offer me.  Keeping everything crossed....although difficult crossing my legs with a cathater fitted.  Sorry, Got to keep the humour going somehow. As for catheters blimey that's another story and I'm sure there are loads of posts on those things.  All the best

  • Hi ityiwi,Welcome from me too.I hope you find this group supportive and helpful.Best wishes Jane

  • Many thanks Winkers60 it is very kind of you to reply ..sorry for my late reply but have been in A&e for most of today on another matter.... hay ho!...anyway best wishes.

  • Hi, ityiwi , I'm almost 8 years down the road, I had aggressive and invasive bladder cancer, I had 2 rounds of chemo, plus a radical cystectomy, it's not plain sailing, but the options weren't a good if I didn't at least have the operation. But I'm back working and living etc, whatever your result, it's not the end of the world.

  • Hi Boston 66......thanks for your reply and the knowledge that life and work can still go on after 8 years.
