Hi all,
I have just found this forum and am so pleased I have. I had a TURBT in May 21 alongside a full hysterectomy and a prolapse repair. Have recently had round 3 of the BCG infusions which have left me in agony. I thought it was just me until I read the messages on here.
I have been prescribed Tramadol to try and help with the pain. Haven't had a night's sleep for many weeks now. Up to pee every hour and it burns! Also, upon examination my consultant has now advised that the bladder has prolapsed again. Waiting for a CT scan.
If anyone has any advice I would be most grateful. Feeling very frustrated as struggling to walk so can't do my usual exercise classes and having to plan any excursion via every known toilet is getting me down.
I hope everyone out there is getting the treatment they deserve and need. Best wishes.
Hi Miss and welcome to the group although sorry to hear you are suffering BCG effects. Some people tend to find the effects far worse than others. Have you had your wee tested for any infection? The basic advice is to avoid any irritants such as coffee and strong tea. It is important to drink lots of water. This sounds like a contradiction with frequent urination, but not enough water concentrates the urine making it acidic and irritates the bladder. Best wishes.
Hi rily and thank you for responding. Yes I have had urine tested and bucket loads of antibiotics despite it being clear of infection. I am in so much pain now it is difficult to walk anywhere. I had a flexible cystoscopy which showed a lot of inflammation. It' being suggested now to have a general anaesthetic for a rigid cystoscopy for a biopsy and diathermy to cut away some of the inflammation. I was wondering if anyone else has had this? Does it make it better or worse?
Thank you for your time and consideration. Miss.
Hi Miss,I’m so sorry to hear you are in pain. Before cancer I had chronic inflammation in the bladder. This was often treated by diathermy and it did help to calm things down,Basically they use a small electric current to burn off any diseased areas. It might be worth trying dietary changes too.I found tomatoes and onions caused the most pain, anything spicy or citrus is best avoided if the bladder is inflamed. It might not help but worth giving it a go.Best wishes Jane
My inflammation was not caused by BCG but hopefully the diathermy will calm things down for you a bit.I had over 30 years of ulcers and red areas which caused pain, frequency and urgency. It is miserable having to be in close range of a toilet.Best wishes Jane
