Hi. Well my life took a sharp downturn last week when a couple of episodes of blood in my urine turned out to be a bladder tumour not bladder stones as I'd hoped.
Now I have to wait for a Turbt to remove it . My wife is already on my case about any delay but I am in the hands of the NHS .
Hoping this forum will help a lot.
Hello Joe234 and all
its been a couple of weeks since I was here as a new joiner.
my partner now has his results and reduced options.
he has muscle invasive cancer but as he already has a heart condition with five stents in place. After various tests he has been told that he has a 1 in 7 chance of surviving surgery and a 40% chance of recovery after 30 days of the operation on top of which he has been diagnosed with COPD ( he doesn’t do things by half).
We now have an appointment next week with the Oncology team to see what treatment can be offered Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy seems to be the direction.
this all started in June 2019 with a TURBT as we now know it, at the time it was simply called a procedure to be followed up but wasn’t, due to Covid, being told to contact the hospital if he had any difficulties and he had to use self catheterizing until July this year when the bleeding started again and another TURBT reveals the tumor had gone into the muscle.
We have seen so many consultants and had many tests and results that we are reeling at the moment but hopeful for a treatment that will shrink the tumor.
yes it all takes time but the right course needs to be found in each individual case as many other contributors will testify.
Best wishes for a favorable outcome.
Hello Hou. I think there's nothing wrong being optimistic and upbeat! Why or how one may take it the wrong way? When I had just been diagnosed I remember I was very pessimistic about my situation. But reading about success stories told by optimistic people has been my mental health saviour!
Well, our forward treatment is now planned. Radiotherapy, which is going to be over the Christmas period following two pre treatment assessment sessions, so feeling more positive, first time since 30th August when they found the tumor.
its going to be a different Christmas but we will face it together.
The waiting has been agonizing as everyone who has gone through it knows, to those of you still going through the early days, your not alone, we feel your doubts and fears, keep talking and stay positive.
looking forward to the future positively, kind regards to all.
