Hubby has G3 T2/3+cis muscle invasive bladder cancer. He has had radiotherapy . Prior to this last June he had kidney stent .He had pain inside from them on. April 4 this year he had the stent replaced ,the consultant hoping it would cure pain but since then it has increased and he has been so poorly. He is incontinent , doesn't even get a sensation of passing urine. He also gets a lot of pain in his backside so much so that he can't sit comfortably in a chair. He has to lay on settee.. GP prescribed morphine which helps but I'd like to know why he gets this pain. We have a consultation May 5th to discuss kidney biopsy results and hopefully next step
We feel very alone and abandoned. Do not get check up calls from Macmillan nurses which at least would reassuring.
Anyone else get this sort of pain?
Hello JPF and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear your husband is in a lot of discomfort. We know treatment can cause many various pains, and stents are known for having side effects. Saying that, it seems as though your husband is suffering more than most. It sounds as though he needs an expert opinion. Has he been allocated a CNS which is usually the first port of call? If not, try his consultants secretary to try and get a phone consultation at least. Has he been checked for an infection? I hope he gets some relief. Best wishes.
Hi JPF,Welcome to this friendly group.Has your husband had a scan recently ? I find it concerning not only that your husband is in pain but that he has a lack of sensation.Perhaps you could list your husband’s symptoms down and push for further advice/help ? I hope you will find it helpful here, there is plenty of support.Best wishes Jane
If your husband has any weakness in his legs combined with the lack of sensation get help right away.I’m so sorry you feel alone with all this. That shouldn’t happen although I know from my own experience that sadly it does. There is plenty of advice and support on here if you have any questions.Best wishes Jane
Spinal cord compression needs to be ruled out with any altered sensation in legs/arms,bladder bowels or incontinence.I was found to have spinal cord compression last December after an MRI scan. They had to rule out cancer as the cause.Mine was due to severe osteo arthritis but it was taken seriously.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
