Hi I'm new here, I had a biopsy done on the 22nd of this month, doctors just believing my problem to be debris, but unfortunately they found what they believe to be a tumor, I've had a biopsy done & although I've not had an official diagnosis,  my specialist seems pretty sure of what it is.

Thing is, since then, it's all gotten out of control in my head & I can't see past death. I knowits very early days but it's how its affected me & to the point I can't eat or sleep. It has seemed to become all encompassing & every days a dread.

Anyone else or is this just me?

  • Hi Rachel- v sorry to hear your news. Please be rest assured that It is v likely to be highly treatable , as the majority of bladder cancers are. As difficult as it is , try to find a way to stay as calm as you can until you have further info and a plan for treatment. Many here have experience of the shock of finding out and some on this v friendly site will be able to answer you in a much more experienced way than I can. You are not alone, keep on keeping on. Take care

  • HI Just to echo Pienmash. Not just you feeling this way. I think many of us were in shock when we were diagnosed. Be aware bladder cancer can be treated successfully one way or another and we are still here to tell the tale. The early days of uncertainty and not knowing can be the worst. Once you find out what you are dealing with and a plan is in place, you will feel a little better as you have something to focus on. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hello Rachel72,

Many of us have been exactly where you are. However one thing I have learnt is not to get ahead of yourself. Of course your brain jumps to all sorts of conclusions, usually negative. Please be assured to take things one stage at a time. The medical teams are there to help you and explain what is the best course of action to take. It's surprising how you soon adapt to a new situation and proceed on a calm and collective way to deal with it and it can be dealt with.

Stay with this forum because people here will help you come to terms with any concerns and worries, remember you are not alone.

  • Thank you so much, it helps to know there are people who knows what I'm going through

  • Good afternoon Rachel72 and welcome to the forum. You tell us that your biopsy was taken only 5 days ago. Your specialist thinks he knows the result but doesn’t say what. You fear that you will die. You’ll have to wait for the biopsy analysis before you know what has been found . If the tumour is cancer then a treatment plan will be made. Bladder cancer can be successfully treated. Waiting for results is the most testing time for most of us . Enjoy the spring flowers and the good weather and share your concerns . Best wishes, John.

  • Hi

As everyone else has said, it's not uncommon to feel at a loss at this early stage. It is an awful lot to take in, especially when you haven't been given a definite diagnosis and a course of treatment. Very difficult not to let your mind race ahead full of what it's.

I was in a similar situation five years ago and found the first few weeks hell, but once I got used to routines and eventual treatments, it became easier. Life's pretty normal now, but try not to put cart in front of the horse.

Good luck and stay in touch

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
