Hi I was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer with one tumour blocking my ureter. I had a TURBT a few weeks ago and my path results came back superficial. However the one in my ureter was not removed and I was told it had spread to my pelvic lymph node. Because of this they won't remove the kidney or ureter yet and I'm awaiting my oncology appt to start chemo. From what I have read this cancer is rare so I'm looking for people who can share their journey with this type of cancer especially where lymph nodes are involved . I have no pain and feel well so this is harder to take in. Thankyou x
Hi Pugsy and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place to be.
I haven't had this type of cancer but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.
I've searched this group to see if there are any previous posts which mention ureter cancer and found these for you to have a look through and you could reply to any of the more recent posters.
As there are even more posts which mention ureter cancer in the bladder cancer group, it might be worth while posting there as well. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there if you'd like to do that.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi Pugsy and welcome to the bladder group. It looks as though your post has just been moved here from the kidney group as this may be more suitable group for you. Good to know you have had your TURBT procedure. No personal experience of the ureter problem, but hopefully some of the group members will be along to help. Many of us have had chemo, so when you know what regimen you will be on, we should be able to help. Best wishes.
Mr Wilbert is having a ureterscope and a biopsy next week
Its almost 6 years since he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and has been all clear after bcg treatment When he was first diagnosed a ct scan showed something in his ureter but subsequent biopsies ruled out tumour and carcinoma in situ
For some months he has had recurrent uti's that our gp has treated with course after course of penicillin He doesnt feel ill and has no symptoms other that blood white cells and protein in his urine Blood tests showed his kidney function wasn't as good as it should be and his BP medication was changed There has been a slight improvement
We divided to use private health insurance and his cystoscopy showed no major problem in his bladder Our consultant assures us he will get to the root of the problem and deal with it He tells me not to be so anxious Easier said than done
Mr W does have a history of kidney stones one of which got stuck in his ureter but not on the side under review
Not sure if this is if much help Once we have the results I will post again
best wishes
Wilbert
Hi Pugsy,My uncle who is 85 had this type of cancer and had a kidney removed some years ago.He currently has a catheter as he has been going into urinary retention and gets urine infections. He doesn’t talk about his health so I don’t have any other information.Best wishes Jane
Today we have been told Mr W has cancer in ureter It was all removed but it will come back Surgeon says kidney function not good enough for chemo or surgery to remove kidney and ureter looking at last test results altho he has asked for new blood tests to see if stent insertion has improved things Feeling bit Shell shocked Surgeon taking it to multi disciplinary team to see where we go next He thinks maybe monitor and remove as it reappears which is ok if it stays inside ureter if it gets out no treatment
Cant take it inHw feels fine
Wilbert
