My partner had his bladder removed on the 25th August, my partner chose the ilenois conduit (apologies for spelling) he also had his prostate removed. He was only meant to be in hospital for a week tops! He ended up in hospital for 3 weeks .. he ended up with a fistula and needed to give his bowels a break.. he then contracted covid and ecoli. He wasn't given food or fluid for 3/4 days, he lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass, they decided to put a pick line and started him on TPN! He had a drain bag which was draining this fowl smelling green stuff... eventually he came home, he was not OK.. he nearly collapsed.. we took him to the GP, we found out that his HB is so low he would need a blood transfusion. He went to hospital and needed 4 units of blood. We then found out after he came out of hospital which was another 2 weeks ... he had sepsis and the only reason we found out was because it was on his discharge letter ... we have a 2 Yr old daughter and its affected her so much. Thanks for reading my story .
Hi . Sounds as though your partner has gone through a really tough time of it. So many complications. We know how much these things can affect the family. I hope things improve soon. Always someone here if you need to ask questions or just talk. Best wishes.
Hi and hoping your partner is beginning to feel better at last after this hell and awful lack of communication. I believe some of the cancer charities offer counselling/play therapy for children in your little girl's situation. Why not call the Macmillan helpline to see if they can give you contact details?
best wishes,
Denby
You absolutely deserve a break. What a stressful worrying time you must have had.I’m glad to hear your partner is improving.I found the recovery slow going but each week felt a bit stronger. Some days will be better than others but hopefully your partner is over the worst now.Love and best wishes Jane x
