one kidney damaged from bladder tumour 2nd kidney possible tumour bladder more likely remoal hope chemo starting in a couple of weeks any one got some advice
Hi . Sounds like you are going for bladder removal. Chemo is a usual start to help halt or reduce any growth. Any questions about chemo, please ask. I went through chemo without too much bother. Didn't get as far as removal, but I am sure others here will be able to answer any questions on that. It is not unusual to be scared. You are not on your own there. Many of us have been scared because we fear the worst, but bladder cancer can be treated successfully one way or another. Best wishes.
Hi chrissim, and welcome from me too. Thoughts on a different angle, also this is why it has taken two days for you to get my reply which was originally really quick as I wanted you to feel someone cares, btw it's not me with the bc but my husband.
But for various reasons I'm the one on here, and have been for a while reading most posts and remembering what people have found useful. Something I have done for myself, and hopefully it has all sorts of good effects. I have no idea how healthy or unhealthy a life you have led up to now, and only smokers have generally much clue about why they might have got bc, so you may or may not be interested in my thinking as follows.
It's always good to get outdoors for some exercise every day rain or shine. I really try to eat my five-a-day veg and fruit. Unless for any special reason I can't, I have all flour I eat eg bread, pasta, pizza as wholemeal. I vary between meat [as I am not vegetarian ], fish, eggs, beans and cheese in my meals through the week. I have switched whatever I can afford to organic. That way my body is not trying to deal with any pesticide residues or other nasties [most ordinary bread has weed-killer traces in it] . If I had reduced kidney function I would be asking to see the hospital dietician, they might want to keep protein intake down but they are the experts.
And yes, then on chemo days others say if they feel like having chocolate and cake to cheer them up on balance they don't feel guilty.
And carry on asking any questions you have, they are all OK here, bodily functions and fluids will not make anyone here blush. And Macmillan helpline will sort answers for you about things like hospital transport costs for your chemo trips, benefits etc. as well as medical stuff.
Best wishes,
Denby
