wo can talk about how to make life normal
Hi and welcome to the group, although sorry you may be feeling a bit down at the moment. Many of us here and families have experienced a cancer diagnosis and know how what a shock it can be. Many of us have been through it and came out the other side. Always someone here to listen if you need to ask any questions or just get things off your chest. It always helps to share things with others, and everyone here understands. Just click the reply button below and ask away. Best wishes.
They'll always be someone around to answer your questions and someone will know the answer. The start of the journey is the worst part. Good luck xx
Hi Chrissim,
"who to talk to": us! We have been scared. Some still are. Some are (like myself) in a "compartmentalized suspended state", waiting to see how thing will (hopefully will not) progress... I remember when I was first diagnosed. There are no words to describe my state of absolute fear. Then people here told me this is a very curable cancer. There are many treatments available. I know: like all cancers, it is a little like a Russian roulette... but amongst all type of cancers, this has less bullets in the revolver than most other ...
And human resilience is formidable. You can and you will "adapt". The Damocles' sword is still there. But it is not so scary as before. You will know what to expect. What is going to happen. As a dear friend of mine once said (she had breast cancer, had an operation, 1.5 years of heavy chemo, nearly lost her for infection 4 times ... but she's still with us, and it's now 2 years after her ordeal): "Marco, remember: trust your doctors and do as you are told!". These oncologists, surgeon, nurses they are wonderful, the best in the world. They will do what is best. Trust them and talk to us: you will see how many people started with fear, found hope and now are celebrating every single "clear" result from their periodic test ...!
All the best
Marco
