Hello everyone

I’m still awaiting confirmation of my TURBT but have been told it’ll be soon. My pre-op is Monday. Does that mean it’s is imminent does anyone know?
Also, does anyone have any experiences about working with bladder cancer?
thank you

Erin

  • . Hi again Erin. I had my first TURBT about 10 days after my pre op, but that was before Covid and things may a bit more difficult now depending on availability at the hospital. In general though, it usually does mean an appointment may be in the pipeline. Work depends on what you do. You are advised not to do anything strenuous for up to six weeks. You may be a bit fragile for the first week or so. It's tempting to go back to work too soon as many people feel fine, but forget they have an open wound inside which can be aggravated. From there it depends on the next step of treatment. I went on to chemo which was not compatible with my work. Best wishess.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

Thanks again Rily, useful to know.

  • Pre-op results are valid for a certain time, after which they would have to be done again - but I'm not sure how long! I would advise at least 10 - 14 days off work after TURBT. Depends on the type of job, but in my case it was the effects of the anaesthetic which were the major factor.

  • Hi Erin,At my local hospital they like to get you in within 4 weeks of a pre op.I’ve usually waited about 10 days to a fortnight.Love Jane
