Hi there. I had not realised repeated bcg is a possibility. How effective a treatment is it? So many questions. How often can they be? Who appoints the nurse?
I have incontinence problems, will that affect my treatment? Is the treatment painful? The reported side effects don't seem to be much different than my current symptoms.
Are there any good diets to help prevent recurrence of the cancer? It's a lot to take in at the moment. Reading your posts is very reassuring.
Hi and welcome to the group. I have not had BCG treatment, but being on here for a while, know it can be a successful treatment. Some people report no side effects while others have a tough time of it. Most people have some sort of mild discomfort. The treatment is usually administered by one of your clinical team. I am sure others will be along to share experiences and offer some advice.
There have been many discussions over the years regarding diet, but most experts advise a normal balanced diet. Best wishes.
Hi..i had the BCG treatment without any problems. Side effects were hardly noticeable. Tuesday 1st i have my first check up. Hopefully if clear will go on the next stage which is a 3 weekly BCG . I feel fine in myself so i am not envisaing anything untoward. I am an 81 male and had the last 10 years of none invasive treatment..Hope all goes well with your treatment..think positive all will be well.
Good morning Reenee, I’ve finished 6 BCG procedures and go today for a flexi cystoscopy to check how things have gone. BCG is uncomfortable rather than painful and after one or two becomes less of a shock. As for diet I can’t imagine it makes a lot of difference if you have a balanced intake, more important is drinking plenty to flush the system . The anticipation of these procedures is worse than the procedure. My nurse assures me that the procedure is effective.
Over 10 years i have had over 23 flexy cystoscopy...never a problem..but you do need to drink plenty. Going in day surgery on 1st june for cystology under general its a check up after my 6 weekly BCG.
Hope all goes well for you as I'm sure it will..
Just back from the flexi and told all clear, come back in 3 months.
