Hi
Im diagnosed with t1 cis non muscle invasive cancer.
Im currently doing bcg treatment and on 3 month break in between bcgs.
Question is am i still classed as cancer patient as i feel healthy
Hi Scar. That's a difficult one to answer and I am sure people will have many different opinions. Although clear of cancer I had regular consultations with my oncologist for 6 years and am still on 6 monthly flexis and annual CT scans for up to ten years, so probably still consider myself a patient. Bladder cancer has a higher rate of recurrence than many other cancers, so no guarantees. Not sure if there is any legal definition. Best wishes.
Hi Scar, I would say yes you are, I’m 8 years on, did BCG and still get checked every 6 months which I’m very pleased to have done. You didn’t say what grade you are but with having BCG I would think grade 2 or 3. I’m grade 3 Pta. I also feel perfectly healthy and have no problems with the bladder but do know bladder cancer is the most recurring cancer so hence the long follow ups. Good luck x
I would say that as you are still undergoing treatment then you are still a cancer patient.
I am currently on BCG. I have so far had 9 out of the 27. I was initially G2pTa but after TURBT & 6 doses of Mytomicin it was back 3 months later as G3 CIS.
However, BCG 9 has left me with bladder pain 6 weeks after having it. Can't wait for the flexi to see what it has done to my bladder to give me such long lasting pain.
