I would like to get some information but have concerns about my question, concerns, fears, etc., being posted on the internet for people to see when searching Bladder Cancer support groups. Is what we post here contained in the forum or does it get pushed out to the internet for other people to see?
Hi and welcome to the community. Community guidelines do not allow real names or any personal information in order to safeguard and protect anonymity of the posters. Posts can be read by non members and could get pulled up by people searching the internet for information. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Hi Newbe,
My name’s Tom and I’m a part of the Online Community team here at Macmillan. We aim to create a kind and supportive online space for people affected by cancer, hopefully you will find it to be so.
As rily has mentioned, the Online Community is a fully public forum. This does mean that the content on the Community can be read by other people on the internet. This is why we work hard to provide and protect anonymity for our members.
Members on the site shouldn’t be sharing information that can lead to their identity in real life. You can read more about this in our ‘Community Guidelines’ here.
If everyone remains anonymous, then people are free to share frankly and openly about their cancer experience. We hope they will find comfort in these honest conversations with others who know how they might be feeling.
If you would like a more private conversation to get some information, and are comfortable in talking things through over the phone, the Macmillan Support Line is available 7 days a week from 8am till 8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00. They are well versed in conversations around cancer. You can even speak to nurses on the support line to raise any medical queries.
For any further concerns or questions around this, please send an email to the Community team directly at community@macmillan.org.uk.
Kindest Regards,
Tom
