Hi all.....new here. Was chatting in another thread and was recommended to pop over to this group. X
Hi Aprildaisies75 and a welcome to the group. I have read your background in your other thread. Just to recap it sounds as though they have found a tumour in your bladder. Firstly be aware that bladder cancer can be treated successfully and many of us are here to tell the tale. You have recently had a TURBT and now waiting for CT scan. Your earlier story is very familiar where ladies are often fobbed off with UTIs, but good to know you are now in the system. Ct scans are normal, just to rule other things out and give them a bigger picture. Waiting for results is always an anxious time. The results of your biopsy will determine the next step. We all understand how you are feeling. The uncertainty and not knowing is a scary time. Lots of support here where you can ask questions or just talk to others who understand. Best wishes.
Hi rily, thanks for your response. The CTU was missed before the TURBT as it all happened so quickly (which is a good thing) but I asked the surgeon if I could still have the scan after surgery to put my mind at rest whether the cancer had spread as I've been having symptoms since 2018. Totally agree its positive the tumour has been removed and I've had chemo all within 4 weeks of diagnosis. It's now been 18 days since the TURBT and 10 days since the CTU. How long is it usually before biopsy results? I'm staying positive and keeping busy but everyday my mood can change by the hour due to the fear of the unknown. I've always been a positive person so hopefully once I know what I'm facing I can better face the challenges ahead...I just feel like I'm in limbo.
Hi Aprildaisies75. Biopsy results usually come through in about 10 days, but then you have to wait for a meeting with your consultant to discuss things. There is also a wait for scan results, you do not get any info on the day. On average it is a 2-3 week wait but with the current covid situation, things may take a bit longer. The waiting is always awful, but once all results are in and a treatment plan is put in place, things get easier as you have something positive to focus on. Just as a reassurance, many of us have been through this with good results. Best wishes.
Hi again winkers60. Thank you. It is just the waiting now for biopsy results that is driving me insane.
The waiting is anxiety inducing. Most people find they feel much better once a treatment plan is in place.I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer for your results.Love Jane x
My husband's hospital have an MDT=multidisciplinary team, meeting once a week, where they have surgeon, oncologist, radiologists etc etc and discuss any patient whose results have come back from the lab/s since last meeting. They decide what treatment/s should be offered or recommended and only then do they book the patient in to update them. A good system but obviously may add a few days to the delay.
Hope this helps, Denby
Hi Denby. Yes my discharge notes state I have been referred to MDT. CTU Scan was 10 days ago so I am hoping my case will be discussed at MDT this week and I hear very soon.
