Hi all diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma in March 2019 - TURBT done - it was TaG1 and had cystoscopy 3 months later which was clear and then 9 months thereafter clear and a further year which was clear but this March 3 small lesions showed again and I had another TURBT done - consultant feels they are the same as last time being low grade but obviously biopsies were taken to be checked and back in 3 months for repeat cystoscopy - worried that they will keep coming back and may progress - anyone in now or previously been in this situation with a positive outcome ? I know the re-occurrence rate is high but hoped I'd get more than 2 years
Hi . Sorry to hear you have had a recurrence so soon after an all clear. Although I have been fortunate not to have a recurrence so far, I can relate to your fears. The positive side is that it has been recognised and will be dealt with. We have a number of members here who have had frequent recurrences and hopefully will be along to reassure you. Best wishes.
Hi Tess50,
It must have been a shock for you after being clear for two years.
I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017, ptaG2. Clear at the three monthly check but had 3 reoccurrences in 2018 and a further reoccurrence in 2019. My grades were the same except after the last TURBT when it had increased slightly and I was given a 6 weekly course of mitomycin. Since then I’ve had clear cystoscopies and am now checked every six months.
I know it may reoccur again but being checked up regularly is reassuring.
Best wishes Luce x
Ah thank you for reply Lucy - yep will just have to wait and see if the grade is the same - was lucky first time is was TaG1 so hoping for the same this time around - consultant said it looks low grade so hoping he's right - the space between the cystoscopies was pushed out to a year quite quickly so I'm hoping them found it quick enough this time - so glad to hear you're doing well xx
