Hi everyone, I've been reading some of your posts and they have really really helped me.
I had an ultrasound on Thursday, which was only three days ago but feels like months, which revealed a '3-4cm lesion' on my bladder which 'may' be a tumor. I have a CT scan next Thursday and then I'm booked in for a flexible cystoscopy +/- a TURBT on the 16th.
The first thing I did was look to Dr Google (despite my consultant's best efforts to convince me not to) and now I am all over the place. I keep imagining the worst and could burst into tears at any given moment.️
Had my pre assessment yesterday, broke down and the lovely nurse recommended I get on these message boards. I started reading some of your stories last night and actually managed to sleep!!
If anyone has any time for a bit of reassurance or advice I would be so very very grateful. This waiting game is horrendous.
xxxx
Thank you!! Just knowing there are other people out there that have been through this is help enough. I was getting so bogged down with the worse case scenarios. I will keep my fingers crossed for you for the 29th. All this waiting really sucks!! X
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. This site is just such a comfort. One step at a time is now my new mantra! X
Hi SaraO,Welcome to the group. The not knowing what you are dealing with is horrible and combined with waiting for tests etc it is an anxious time.I hope you are finding some reassurance and support here. Many of us have been through what you are experiencing and remember what it feels like. The Turbt itself is not that bad.Plenty of fluids afterwards, pain killers if needed and taking it easy will help.Once you have the biopsy results you will know whether its cancer or not.If it is a tumour then a treatment plan will be put in place for you and people tend to feel better mentally once they have that.It is all a bit overwhelming at first but we are all here to help and support you through.Wishing you well for the Turbt.Love Jane
Hi and let me add my welcome to the group. Just to echo above comments, BC can be treated successfully. I personally have so far been clear for over 7 years. Lots of experience here, so always someone with an answer to any questions. Best wishes.
Thank you!! And to think I used to like Dr Google!!
Hello SaraO
As others have mentioned, Dr Google is out of date, misleading at best and will scare you witless. This forum has many years of experience with regard to all forms of bladder cancer and its treatments as well as what to expect with side effects.
We will tell you the truth, not give reality a shiny gloss and allow you to let off steam when it gets frightening and infuriating.
Please stay off Dr Google, ask us, I guarantee we have the answers. Just one other tip at this stage - go do the things that you enjoy the most, it will help to take your mind off the diagnosis.
CB.
Thank you CB. Your reply is much appreciated. Reading everyone's stories is so comforting. I will take your advice and definitely stay away from Dr Google!!
